Cowbduction released


Cowbduction is released!

It's a small game created with PureBasic (and SpiderBasic for the web version). The color scheme is a tribute to the classic Gameboy games.

The development began in July 9th. Code/art/sound effects were created by me. Well, I used the excellent JFXR tool to create the sound effects (basically I clicked on random until I heard something I liked!). The main music I got here, all the credits go to Ctskelgysth Inauaruat.

This is another attempt to create a small game in a short timespan, which failed, bacause it took almost two months to be deemed complete. It was a good exercise, I could implement some stuff that wasn't present in the other games I released, like an actual 2d camera: the game play area is bigger than the game screen area.

The source code is available to anyone who wants to look at how the sausage is made. It's not clean or pretty! I use the demo versions of PureBasic and SpiderBasic, which have a limitation on the number of lines it can compile. So a lot of the ugliness is because I was trying to save a few lines and get the thing compiled. But this means that anyone can compile the game on windows, linux and mac.
